The ‘Inter-Regional Conference Addressing and Countering the Drug Problem: Sharing of Best Practices Between the Americas, Africa and Asia’ took place from 27 November to 30 November, followed by a ministerial meeting held on 1 December, 2017, in Nairobi, Kenya. The  event was co-organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Government of Kenya, opened by the Honorable Minister of Interior of Kenya, Dr. Fred Matiang’I, and attended by Delegates from Ministries of Justice and Health, and other Ministries overseeing drug policies, senior officials from Cape Verde, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Nigeria, Egypt, Mozambique, South Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania, Seychelles, Somalia and Uganda, and senior experts from Asia (Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka) and Latin America (Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Panama); intergovernmental organisations, including African Union, European Union, Economic Community of West African States, Southern African Development Community, East Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization, and INTERPOL, as well as Delegates from Nairobi-based diplomatic missions.
